Perhaps you already know Veerle's blog. To those of you who are interested in website design this blog may be a great help, as you find there tutorials about webdesign with an emphasis on CSS. End of 2006 Veerle launched in her blog a new category called "Modern Home Design". In this category Veerle reported in January 2007 so thoroughly and friendly ("Sometimes I am surprised what is out there..." , "... the perfection is in the details", "... will impress visitors") about the Float Bed so that Veerle report about Float is a must on my press-quotes site.

In January 2007 the meier magazine, "the magazine for the city", reports under the rubric "Home visit" about how I life. I tried to translate some extracts of the German text for you:

- the Mannheimian designer who reinvented the bed

"If you mean, the terms "reduced" and "sensual" are opposites then you should pay a visit to the designer Max Longin. ... Turning doors made of oak and stainless steel underline the open concept with its flowing transitions between living and work area and that integrated showroom. Despite the reticent design the areas come across neither stylish overloaded nor undercooled - but in a "earthy" way very sensual. ... . The connection of unorthodox, simple elements with warm nature materials finds their correspondence in the design objects of the 42 years old mathematician. .... "

Matías Kirschenbaum is grafic designer from Argentina who is specialized in design editorials and analysis of new tendencies. Since last year I did not know the clarin/dsno blog he writes together with Gustavo Lento Navarro.

The more I was surprised about the huge number of visitors of my website who follow the links of his report on clarin/dsno about my work.

I was surprised when I read Imeldas blog for one good reason. Two days after I had submitted my website to her wonderful weblog she reported she was very surprised by my email as she had seen my float bed on screen the weekend before at the PANTONE Conference in Singapore on 10/06/2006. Here Tod Schulman, Vice President of Pantone Fashion & Home, featured the float bed in his lecture titled Creative Age. Thanks Imelda for bringing this to light in your report about my work

Design Addict is the european portal for historical and contemporary design. I feel proud and honored that Alix and Patrick of Design Addict valued the float bed and stream chair worth to be listed as an entry in the Design Addict Index.

Dreams take flight! The Interior Design magazine reported about the float bed as the opener of new products/furniture in Feb 05. You can read the article here.

How could you top the fact that your design is featured in the worlds most famous design magazine? Here you are: The Interior Design readers voted float as "top product of 2005" and it reappeared in the November issue of the magazine by popular demand. Thanks to the readers of the Interior Design magazine!

I am not sure whether the US-Playboy magazine is the magazine with the most of all readers. But surely it is the magazine with the most of all viewers! Here is an extract of what they said about the float bed:

Pariah S. Burke from TheDesignWeblog wrote a wonderful article about the float bed. I was extremely delighted by so many compliments and the verve of this article.

Meaghan of Treehugger posted an article about the float bed with a focus on the ecology of its packing concept. And in the final sentence she discovered a property that might be of interest for some of the future floaters too!

You could easily fall in love. Gentle, calm, even-tempered. When you come close, you have a feeling of security, you feel safe, you hover on clouds. Of whom we talk? Of the bed float. And of the designer Max Longin ... .

... . Compared to the design pieces of Longin suddenly our own furniture looks like from another century. Unfortunately not everybody can afford an interior concept à la Longin, because manual work and quality have their price. But well, we can have dreams..."

The "Junge Karriere" the "monthly magazine of the Handelsblatt" reported in several specials about different professions. When the special was about mathematicians they interviewed me to underline the variety of this professions outline. Here is an extract:

"What stands fixed is trivial. A bed for example. The whole world takes the four vertical legs as a necessary condition for a stable sleep without to question that. " I search for things, that are true, but not obvious" says however Max Longin. And as he prefers to hover over to lie fixed, he designed a suspended sleeping furniture with a floating frame...

Sometimes it only seems that something is immanent, but in fact it is only accomodativeness, tradition or lack of fantasy - as with the verticality of a beds leg."

Andrew Myers wrote a wonderful article about the float bed in the RobbReport, a magazine focused on luxury in the field of custom design, architecture and technology. The Austrian/Swiss/German design magazine H.O.M.E. printed excerpts of a very pleasing conversation I had with Chris Löwer on the phone. The interviewer writes for the "SueddeutscheZeitung", the "Spiegel", the "Handelsblatt" and many more. I won´t bore you with my statematements during the interview, but try to translate his introduction:

"Sleeping Problem Solved!
Mathematicians are the better designers. Number-Cruncher Max Longin reinvented the bed

Mathematicians often have a rather doubtful reputation. Max Longin is one: an uncompromizing clear-head, but not a restless clattering scatterbrain. He´s 39 of age and has a strong creative component - a mixture that allows ingenuity. So it happened that this man reinvented the bed..."

core77 is an US-design portal and the editors call it "industrial design supersite". Sounds like a superchance to see my superbed.
